and it doesn't matter that this isn't her avatar and this isn't regular earthbending training. in fact, toph is liable to go even harder on korra than she did on aang. korra's had years of earthbending practice. and probably learned from some thick-headed bozo in the first place. even if she did learn earthbending from toph's own descendents (still weird). she's gone off to her little hollow spot in the forest, tucked away and squishing dirt between her toes and just listening. maybe she's listening for faeren, or maybe she's just listening to her own thoughts. either way, it isn't going too well. ]

[Aang had been trying to be careful, to be respectful of Toph. But he wasn't sure what to say to her. It's weird to consider that it was years already since the had those big arguments over their future families.

And now, Toph didn't have just one daughter anymore. It was all so much bigger than they had anticipated. Now Toph was the one with a sweet-hearted granddaughter here. Aang could only guess at all of the complicated thoughts going through her head.

He's given her some time and some space, but he's still worried. He knows that her absence will cause Opal to feel hurt, too. So he sets off into the forest to try to find her. He doesn't try to shout or anything, he just glides between several areas of the forest, pausing every now and then to look around for her.

He's ditched his shoes. Every time his feet touch the ground, it'll give him a better idea of whether or not he's landed in the right area.]

[It's the night of the big prom! And Rock Lee is on his way to pick up Rapunzel, in a very green tux. His adoptive father, Maito Gai, has given him the most youthful pep talk of his life!

And now comes the hard part. He makes his way towards the door of his date for the night. He takes a moment to swallow his nervousness and jog a little in place before he frantically raps at the door. Has the time finally come?!]

ON THE NIGHT OF NIGHTS

[ rapunzel is just on the other side of the door. she's been peeking through the window both to spot lee's approach...and to make sure her mother didn't come home early. rapunzel is a bundle of nerves about leaving the house without her mother's permission, which she knew she wouldn't have gotten even on the best of days. it had taken many late nights, saved pennies, stealth trips to the fabric shop and further delicate planning to sew her dress in secret. she wanted tonight to be perfect. she wanted to be everything she had dreamed about for so long. but if mother came home early, it would ruin everything.

but rapunzel couldn't worry about that now. she's donned the dress and swept her long golden hair into an elegant braid laced with real blossoms from the garden. her heart thunders as she spots lee jogging in front of the door. a soundless laugh escapes her, and a split second after he knocks, she opens the door. ]

...Hi. I mean - hello. Um - hi?

[Rock Lee didn't know much about her living situation. All he knows is that he adores Rapunzel beyond belief, such that Gai had diagnosed him with 'the lovesickness of youth'. And somehow, she had agreed to come to the prom with someone such as him.

As the door opens, he stares at her with a stunned smile. His gaze shifts between the braid and the dress and settling on her eyes. Lee blushed with a look of sheepish disbelief]

S-so beautiful... [He blinks.] I mean... [He thrusts forth a bouquet he was holding behind his back, his eyes closed nervously.] Good evening, Rapunzel-san!! You appear to be in good health and I hope that you truly are!!

(It's been a normal day for Valka, stopping a few fights between man and dragon taking place, guiding them back to the dragon sanctuary, then making her finals rounds of the day to look for any she might have missed. A couple zipplebacks, some whispering deaths, and a few deadly nadders make for a good rescue.

But this time, he flew a bit farther away from the sanctuary than she originally intended. In fact, once she got her bearings straight, Valka realized she was getting awfully close to Berk. She knows the second she's spotted, the attacks will come and her and Cloudjumper will be in for one hell of a fight. Valka mutters to her partner to turn them around before things get risky, even though the island isn't quite in sight yet. She needs to turn around before it is, but anyone riding far enough out will easily catch her.)

CRACKS KNUCKLES

[ hiccup spends more time in the skies these days than on land. he knows he should be getting back. the sun is dropping towards the horizon and soon the cold of night would set in, but this is one of his favorite times to fly. and anyway, it's not exactly like he's in the habit of being attentively where he's expected to be at all times. although lately, most vikings on berk probably did expect him to be out in the skies.

he's mostly running through some techniques with toothless, but he still keeps his eyes peeled for any unfamiliar dragons. there are still so many he doesn't know anything about, and he aims to fix that.

of course, toothless is usually the one to notice the presence of other dragons first. hiccup's stomach flips when toothless's ears flatten against his head, redirecting their flight path, and hiccup looks around wildly. ]

(Cloudjumper can hear the faint beating of another dragon's wings, even at the distance they're at. His head turns into the direction of Toothless, nothing more than a dot on the horizon for the time being, and Valka is immediately attentive toward that direction, as well.) Come on, Cloudjumper, one more for the day, then we'll head home.

(And they needed to hurry, for the fear of Berk preparing to launch a full scale attack on said dragon. Cloudjumper's speed increases, as he beats his wings with more force to head to the dragon they think needs rescuing. It doesn't take long for that little speck in the sky to soon take more form, a pure black dragon against the colorful twilight sky. She's almost ready to call out, until Valka notices another outline against the dragon. Is that a... person?) Hold steady. I think there's a... a rider.

it's a perfectly clear morning, and rapunzel had risen early as usual, despite the fact that there was no dragon training lessons today. her dragon, eugene, sleek blue and shy, liked to fly along the sea when the water was particularly biting, and rapunzel was more than happy to indulge him. he was her best friend on berk, a place that still didn't quite feel like home but she called it so anyway.

she's watching the sun slowly rise on a cliff with eugene scarfing down fish next to her. she's seen a lot of beautiful things in her time, but this was one of the most stunning sights of all. ]

You see, this is a jamjar world in which two people are forced to be handcuffed together or they die. Now, over time you an earn a longer chain but for the relative newcomers like this, the chain connecting them is barely a foot long, which makes sitting (or sleeping or... anything...) truly inconvenient when his left hand has been sacrificed to her right hand. It's awkward, not going to lie
