[Aang had been trying to be careful, to be respectful of Toph. But he wasn't sure what to say to her. It's weird to consider that it was years already since the had those big arguments over their future families.

And now, Toph didn't have just one daughter anymore. It was all so much bigger than they had anticipated. Now Toph was the one with a sweet-hearted granddaughter here. Aang could only guess at all of the complicated thoughts going through her head.

He's given her some time and some space, but he's still worried. He knows that her absence will cause Opal to feel hurt, too. So he sets off into the forest to try to find her. He doesn't try to shout or anything, he just glides between several areas of the forest, pausing every now and then to look around for her.

He's ditched his shoes. Every time his feet touch the ground, it'll give him a better idea of whether or not he's landed in the right area.]

[ when he gets close, she knows it. she'd recognize his little lady feet anywhere. that doesn't mean she's gonna make it any easier on him by jumping out of her hidey-hole. she doesn't need to talk to him. she doesn't need to talk to anyone. if he's so eager to find her, the it's all on him. ]

[There's someone nearby. He knows it. The autumn leaves crunch beneath his feet as he steps carefully, searching for her. And hesitantly, he tries to call out for her.]

[ rather helpfully, toph doesn't answer. she even resists the urge to earthbend a rock to stub his twinkly toes. ]
