Same Old People, Wrong Destination

Great news! You're going home from that world you've been stuck in. You know, that world. The one that isn't yours. You've been stuck there for quite some time! Or perhaps you've been sent "home" from your actual home world to a different one. It's all a very messy business really, and we haven't time for the details of getting everyone in the right place!

So more than likely, you end up in a world that isn't yours, regardless of whether you came from your own or from yet another world you've been stuck in. Great, isn't it? But that's not all! Someone is stuck there with you. Maybe you know them from some previous world! Maybe you don't. The point is, they seem to be the only one who doesn't think you're crazy.

You're not going home anytime soon. So what do you - and your hapless companion - do next?

Considerations

1. You can go to any other world you want! It just can’t be one either of your characters are from. You can make up something like a fantasy world, something from a sci-fi, or something just like the modern world. Or you can pick a canon neither of your characters belong to.
2. Ideally they should both be from different canons altogether. But this isn’t required!
3. There’s supposed to be no way back. Even genius characters ought to find it impossible. But does that mean all hope has to be lost? Just how long have your character been stuck, anyway?
4. For an optional extra level of complexity, give consideration to your character’s appearance or to their abilities. Will they stand out in this new world? Will they have to hide what they can do? Or will they even be able to use their powers if the source of their powers is gone?

Prompts

1. Day One - You’ve both just arrived on this world and by chance, you run into each other. Two heads are better than one. Now you just have to figure out what to do next.

2. One Week Later - You’ve been in this world a week. Things are starting to sink in. So is the idea of being stuck here. It’s time to start thinking about the long term.

3. One Month Later - Now that you’ve both been here awhile, you’ve learned the ins and outs of your new home. You’re making a living and getting by, but you still think of home.

4. Six Months Later - It may not be home, but you’ve learned to be comfortable. By now, your relationship with your companion has certainly evolved as well.

5. One Year Later - It’s been long enough that you sometimes wonder if you'll ever get home. So what’s life for you like in this whole new world?

6. Other - Don’t be limited by the above. This could be two weeks later or twenty years later! Of course, you can always time skip once you’ve established what you want to do at one time period.

The weirdest thing about waking up here wasn't the fact that everything around him looked like cheap 8-bit from an old video game. It wasn't that everyone had peculiar yellow skin. It wasn't even that he was fairly certain that everything here was a bunch of American toys. The weirdest thing was that he was still exactly as he had been before - no right angle joints or unbending limbs - except smaller. He was the same size as all the strangely singing people around him.

There were others like him, here and there, but mostly it was a menagerie of what appeared to be...Lego people. Who would either stare at him for a moment before continuing singing that irritatingly catchy song, or would completely ignore him in favor of their routine. Ritsuka stood in the middle of the singing hustle of the city, ears flat against his head, tail swaying in annoyance behind him and tried to flag the attention of the nearest "real" person he could find.

"Hey! Do you know what's going on?"

[Phoenix Wright, ace attorney, had been back in his home world for a few months now, and he doesn't currently remember whatever other world he was on where he met Zelda.

As for Zelda, she only arrived today, and in the worst possibly circumstances. She arrived on a murder scene and was arrested as the primary suspect. The victim was a video game designer, who was killed by a sword that was a replica of a weapon from one of his video games.

When Phoenix heard about the case, something in him knew that he had to take it. So he made his way to the detention center during visiting hours and sat on the other side of the glass window from her. He doesn't exactly display any signs of recognition, however.]

Miss... Zelda, is it? I'm Phoenix Wright, attorney. [He then presents his attorney's badge, as he often tends to do.]

[It has been over four years since the Head Lunatic finally saw fit to send von Karma back to his own universe, at a point in time before the whole debacle involving the Edgeworth brat and his pet rookie defense attorney. Although von Karma's memories of what will occur after December 24, 2016, no longer exist, he is able to recall everything that transpired at Landel's Snake Pit, much to his dismay. At least he and his daughter are both safe from that hellhole, and it's as though it were nothing more than a demented nightmare.

Cane in hand, he is about to enter the courtroom for the first trial of the day. He estimates that the defendant will be found guilty in under two minutes. His lips part in a broad grin as he pushes the large double doors open... only to suddenly give way to a scowl as he sees what's inside.

Where his bench should be sits a large couch with a blasted kitten kneading its claws into it. The lines in von Karma's forehead grow deeper as he surveys the rest of the room. Bright sunlight shining from above, tables and chairs scattered about the room... and the large bulletin board on the wall displaying dozens of frivolous notes.

No. It can't be. This has to be nothing more than a disturbing dream. This can not be the accursed Sun Room where the Head Lunatic enjoyed "entertaining" his prisoners!

Just then, von Karma sees a very familiar face framed by short teal blue hair. What in blazes is Franziska doing here? For that matter, what the devil is going on?! But he voices neither of these thoughts as he approaches her.

With a curt nod and cocked eyebrow, he grumbles at her in greeting.]

Franziska.

[For now, he says nothing more while he studies her expression.]

[ Is he dead? Is she dead? Were they home? Well, this is close to his home, but all things considered it was not really his idea of home to be here with a woman who he knows fairly okay and to have a timer on his had. There's a lot of confusion abound in this, though one of the bigger ones is that most people don't seem to be taking too much notice of the two of them despite them being right in the middle of the middle of Shibuya. Or the weird pins or the weirder explanation...

Still.

He was rather used to going through one door and ending up somewhere else by now. At least, this time when he came through the door (admittedly somewhat crookedly as he had to lean down to clear the top), he was a skeleton again. There was nothing more annoying than being human, even if he had been quite the handsome one back at that silly hospital. All gangly bones and tattered yet stylish striped suit again, Jack finally felt like himself. He let the door swing shut behind him, not at all confused by the fact that the door hung in the middle of the sleek hallway for a moment before popping out of existence.

"Well! This is certainly a new place!" he said, standing up to his full height before looking at the horrified faces around him. This appeared to be some sort of Sci-Fi World (Town? Much too big to be a town) with a menagerie of aliens and humans and-- People in blue suits? "Hullo!"

Phoenix is not sure where he is at all. Aside from feeling so many levels of done with this place. He has just shuffled his way to the other side of a crowd and is wiping some slime off of his sleeve. Come on, Phoenix, get a grip. They aren't real. They're all just really lifelike and really disgusting costumes.

Then he hears a voice and turns to answer the stranger

But when he sees the skeleton man, he shrieks instead.

And that is precisely the sort of reaction he's missed so dearly in the last few months! How splendid that someone is ready and willing to be frightened out of their wits so soon! Jack cackled in glee, bending from the waist to draw closer to the spiky haired man in a blue suit. It was a nice suit, Jack thought, as he loomed over him. Very nice, indeed. It's too bad Jack was going to have to scare him so badly he might ruin it with a cold sweat.

A playfully sinister grin spread across his face as he said, "Don't let your heart leap from your chest just yet - I'm not done with you."

(Sir, do you happen to be a yoga master?!)

Phoenix looks around in a panic as the man approaches. "H-hey, but I don't even know you! Are you sure you have the right guy? I think you're very done with me, thank you very much!"
