scenarios ACTION

① Skrull Invasion → You're on planet Earth and the Skrull are coming! Are you ready to fight? Perhaps the better question is...are you really sure your friends are who you think they are?
② Sparring → There's few better ways to see what you're made of than to face off against your fellow heroes! Enter the sparring ring and give it all you've got. Or perhaps you wind up facing an old friend in the Grandmaster's Contest of Champions!
③ Chitauri Assault → Time to take down hordes and hordes of alien goons! Maybe they brought their space whales, too. They're bringing the party to you!
④ In Pursuit → Your enemies are fleeing and it's up to you to pursue them and bring them to justice!
⑤ Heist → Time to steal that invaluable vibranium shipment before the bad guys do. You'll need all your best covert stealth skills to pull this one off.
⑥ Training → Power up the Danger Room and throw yourself and a partner into a training scenario of your choice! Just try to be careful in there. It is called the Danger Room, after all!

ANGST

As the next match-up, a giant green man approaches the table where Jane already is waiting. He affixes a look at her and shouts out his name.]

Hulk!!

He might as well take a seat! So he lumbers over and sits down... only to accidentally destroy the chair and let out a loud, irritating growl.]

[As far as Hulk understands it, these Skrulls can be anywhere and anyone. So he's developed a foolproof method for fishing them out...

He leaps through the sky and comes to ground-smashing landing right in front of this half-naked man.]

You Skrull?! [In order to find the answer, Hulk winds up his fist and tries to punch him right in the... well, most of his body!]

[Whoa, that guy is... completely normal! Kurt himself is chilling with a simple can of soda, though he seems almost envious of the other boy's chocolate milk set-up. Where did he get that umbrella?

The blue boy raises an eyebrow at the question, somewhat bothered by the question but trying to laugh it off.]

Yeah, by the party bug maybe! [A beat.] But no, you probably shouldn't ask that. And this is, like... You know anything about mutations, dude?

[ why?

it's a question she's asked herself a handful of times: dozens and dozens, with a curiosity that brims over into mild panic. and panic isn't a state to which peggy carter is accustomed. it dries out the back of her mouth and puts an uncharacteristic tremble in her hands. in silence, she reminds herself that this mission (this ambush) is more a matter of state than of the heart. and yet, that organ is beating fast. it boasts an aggressive flutter under her ribs.

but why? because it's only been a handful of months since an accident, a mishap with a volatile substance known as zero matter, spat her out on this side of the century. it was shield that found her first -- not the rotted out and crumbling one that hydra had left in ruins, but the one that clung to faith and conviction and the underground. a man named coulson explained everything to her (everything but why -- he didn't have that answer either) and then he put her on a path. one intended, with all the delicacy of a stampeding bull, to cross with steve's path at the first best opportunity.

so here she is. the safehouse is a small and cramped one, furnished to a spartan's taste and tucked inconspicuously into the corner of a small town in the south of france. according to the intel, there's a decent chance rogers is due to land here today, soon, and with a handful of hours to spare before moving on like a ghost to the next problem he can't help but try to solve. some things, it seemed, were left unchanged by ice and time.

it's just...peggy doesn't know why she's here, or exactly how the science worked -- but she's been briefed on the political snafu into which rogers has found himself. or at least she's been briefed on as many details as coulson's team could get their hands on. deep down, she suspects they hope to apply her like a kind of nostalgic honey pot -- to bring 'the captain' in, to straighten the crooked lines, to put the world to right.

sod all of that. for now, she'll content herself with simply seeing him with her own two eyes. pacing the room, heels quiet on old carpet, she waits for the telltale turn of the knob. ]

After the battlefield cleared, Loki - badly injured, but not as much so as he'd feined - found a pod that was in well enough working order that it might limp to Earth. No doubt, wherever his brother had ended up, he would head there to intercept the Mad Titan.

There was only one human he could think of who probably wouldn't kill him on sight. She'd dumped his brother, sure, but Loki had saved her life.

Jane Foster. He got as close as he could to the laboratory where she worked before the pod sputtered and died for good. The sun was low in the sky as he stumbled towards the squat, grey brick building.

So in the latest series of the world almost ending, again, Darcy was for once not in the midst of it. She had been taking a well deserved vacation when the giant space donut had shown up and starting causing issues. She had chilled in her hotel room watching it all go down on tv.

That next day however was when people started disappearing. Like crumbling into dust...like the maid who had been cleaning her room that morning. Standing there toothbrush in mouth she watched as the older woman went poof! Huh, well...that sucks. It was hard catching a plane back home but she did and was frantically running into the labs to see if her bestie/boss was still alive.

Finding the willowy brunette huddled over some paperwork Darce made a bee-line for her. "Janey!" she cried out before wrapping the smaller woman in a tight hug. "I'm so glad you're not all dust in the wind."

[For not the first time in her life Darcy feels like she's stuck in a really bad movie. But instead of a cheesy sci-fi one she feels like it's more horror, more like John Carpenter's The Thing, or maybe even Invasion of the Body Snatchers. Were they friend or faux (ha, get it?! don't worry, she's here all week.)? Were they safe? Was she going to die? ~~Why is Gamora?~~ There were too many questions and right now she was too busy being huddled next to the hunky space god that was her friend.]

I swear to Odin that you better be the real Thor. I'm not digging the short hair and no mew-mew gig.

[ iw aware, though I've only seen it once, so I'm not comfortable playing him from that timeframe, yet. But any ~~angst~~ spoilers to him about it won't bother me! ]

[ Rest. That’s pretty much the force that’s driving him forward towards the safehouse in the dead of night. He feels like it’s been years since he was able to just lay back and breathe- truth be told it had been years since he had felt safe in any one place. Two years to be exact. Two years of staying hidden, of jumping from place to place to make sure no one was on his tail. Two years since he felt anything even close to the home he had found only to lose again.

He felt that loss like he felt the others- a constant ache that he could ignore when he was with his team or kept busy, but when left to his own devices just another loss that threatened to consume him.

Sometimes he wonders if he would had done things differently knowing what these past two years would be like. He regrets getting his friends mixed up in this- even if he knows they chose the paths they did because they believed in him. Still- Clint under house arrest, Natasha, Wanda, Sam and him constantly on the run, Bucky across the world, Tony and him not speaking- no more Avengers. He wonders if it was all worth it. He wonders if in doing what he knew was right he actually cost them all a lot more.

It’s not a path he likes to go down- self doubt. It’s one he tries to avoid but after leaving his team underground and traveling on his own it’s one he finds himself returning to more often than not.

It’s a world weary Steve that opens the door to the safehouse, hair longer than Peggy would remember, facial hair that had definitely never been there before.

It takes him a moment before he notices her, his mind else where- something Natasha would have scolded him for, always be on guard even if the place is supposed to be safe. But when he catches site of her pacing the carpeted floor it’s like the bottom drops out of his stomach.

It’s Peggy- the Peggy he remembers, not the one he had to bury two years ago. ]
