she's not going to give him a hard time for it right now though, not after she nearly knocked his teeth out with an air hockey puck, she owes him at least that much. god, can she bury herself in the sand yet??
she only fusses more once he's getting to his feet again, both hands are immediately up and holding onto his arms to steady him and gosh for all it looks like he has noodle arms they're surprisingly strong aren't they, she can feel that nice muscle //// ]
Are you dizzy? Can you walk?
[ okay maybe she's overreacting, can you get a concussion from an air hockey puck?? at least the medical building isn't very far.. ]
no subject
After blinking a few times, he nods. ]
Yeah! T-totally. I'm fiiiine.
[ It's really not all that bad. But...she's fretting over him...it's so cute.
He falls into step with her, his gait maybe a little sluggish but he's not about to topple over or anything. ]
...Did you just do that because I was ahead?
no subject
.... but she drops her hand eventually before it gets too awkward, because it's clear that he doesn't need to be steadied so touching him longer than necessary seems. um. yeah she shouldn't. clearing her throat, she looks forward again, focusing on walking and not his arms, okay.
and then she scoffs. ]
Hardly. You were ahead by a fraction, and only because you palmed the puck.
no subject
What? Ha! Would I do something like that?
[ He would, probably. ]
no subject
books are so much easier than boys. ]
Clearly you would, it was a most offensive foul.
no subject
Offensive enough that it's worth a black eye?
[ He can tell she really feels bad about it, so instead of just leaving at that, he gently knocks his knuckles into her shoulder. ]
no subject
Ah. No, certainly not. [ and even after he nudges her, she still looks sheepish. ] I am sorry..
[ god help her she will never allow herself to have a crush again. ]
no subject
Don't be. It was an accident. Besides, now I've got a great story to tell!
[ And just to demonstrate, he clears his throat, changing the quality of his voice to sound like - Noctis, probably. ]
Hey, Prompto, how'd you get that sick black eye? [ Then, slipping back to his usual tone: ] Oh, you know, got hit in the eye by a cute gi -
[ But his words grind to a sharp halt. Did he just...say that? Out loud? Not just think it inside his head? Oh, god. ]
no subject
at first alisaie looks surprised, before she's immediately flushing straight to her hairline. god, she feels like such a fool, like a silly schoolgirl; she's never had a crush before, not really, not one strong enough to warrant all this stupid blushing and looking demurely away. it's embarrassing, even if she can't seem to help it. he thinks she's cute.. ah..
at last she sight, then smiles and chuckles, glancing toward him only briefly and then back to the road again. ]
.. well, I suppose that isn't so bad, then.
no subject
He clears his throat, like that will grant him some knowledge of what to say next. ]
N-no? Uhh - that's - right! I mean - far worse things have happened!
[ He laughs nervously. She's going to think he's such a dork now...as if she didn't already. ]
no subject
I.. yes.
[ oh my god this got awkward so fast, neither of them have any idea what they should say, but somehow alisaie is still pleased despite it. small victories. ]
Well, here we are.
[ thank god they've made it to the medical building before any more embarrassing stammering occurred; alisaie is quick to enter the building if only for a change of scenery and a distraction. ]
no subject
I've, uh, never had stitches before.
[ Okay, that could've come out better. ]
I mean - it'll be exciting! One thing to check off the bucket list.
no subject
[ she winces a little, because man, if it needs a stitch or two she's going to be 1000x more mortified than she already is. he's going to have a scar forever, she mauled him, why does he think she's cute??
it makes for easy conversation though as they wind their way to the office. ]
You've led a charmed life. I've had plenty.
no subject
Seriously? You have? Okay, I'm gonna need to hear stories, stat.
[ Not because he doesn't believe her, but because he pretty much needs to know how a cute bookworm ends up with lots of stitches. IS SHE SECRETLY IN A FIGHT CLUB.
Because that'd be hot. ]
no subject
and she looks a tad bashful about it. normally she wouldn't be at all, alisaie is not ashamed of the sort of girl she is, how different she is when compared with what her family wanted her to be. she's never much cared what other people thought of her.
but she cares what he thinks. still, she's not about to lie. scratching at her cheek, she shrugs, and hedges. ]
Oh, well I played a lot of sports growing up. I was a bit of an.. outdoor child.
[ love of books and posh accent aren't all there is to her, apparently. ]
no subject
There's a few people in line ahead of them at the reception desk - it's one of those nights, apparently - so Prompto stops behind the last person and crosses his arms as he looks down at her. ]
What kind of sports gives you lots of stitches? Roof jumping? Bear wrestling?
[ She could wrestle a bear, he bets. ]
no subject
Well, mostly fencing.
[ in line now, she crosses her arms loosely over her abdomen and meets his gaze for a moment, looking away before she admits: ]
And.. self defense. I've been in a few fights.
[ she likes camping too tho, so ]
no subject
At that statement, though, he looks duly alarmed. ]
Wait, you mean, like...literal fights? Fisticuffs?
no subject
Ah.. yes.
[ ... ]
no subject
That - that is....
[ And then, the instant grin, blossoming with a laugh. ]
So cool! I mean, it's not that surprising, I always knew you were cool, but - still!
[ No, he doesn't think she's a violent psychopath. He thinks it's awesome. ]
no subject
That's -
[ she exhales a breathless laugh, clearly surprised. ]
Well, perhaps you should tell that to my family, I assure you they disagree.
no subject
Ha. A bit controlling, huh?
[ To be fair, most parents probably wouldn't be thrilled with their kids getting into fights, but...it depends on what the fight was about, honestly. ]
no subject
[ her expression is visibly tight. she loves her parents, but they have never been as supportive as she would have liked, and she sometimes gets the impression that, even though they love her, they don't like her.
that's hardly something to get into now, with him, however, so she exhales hard and looks up into his face again. ]
Nevertheless, they're not so bad. The stitches, I mean.
no subject
So after a moment of gazing at her with concern in his eyes, he finds his voice again, glancing quickly at the line. For a place called "urgent care", there's sure not a lot of urgency going on here. ]
R-right. I'm sure it'll be fine. It's not that bad, anyway.
[ He's trying to reassure himself as much as her. ]
...Maybe you can show me how to fight sometime!
[ It slips out without a second thought. ]
no subject
You mean you don't know how?
[ she touched those arms.. those secret guns. with a coy smile, she elbows him gently in the ribs. ]
You seem the scrappy sort.
[ she'd knock him on his ass probably ]
